Vaellus means hiking, and it is one of Finland's most popular outdoor activities. Along trails you find free infrastructure including campfire sites with firewood, lean-to shelters (laavu), wilderness huts (autiotupa), and dry toilets. Popular long-distance routes include the Karhunkierros (Bear's Trail, 80 km) in Oulanka and the Hetta-Pallas route (55 km) in Lapland.
