Your Path to Finland

1

Choose Your Program

Browse Studyinfo.fi for degree programs. Many master's programs are in English. Application deadlines are typically in January.

2

Apply for Admission

Apply through Studyinfo.fi or directly to universities. Prepare transcripts, motivation letter, and language certificates.

3

Secure Funding

EU students have no tuition. Non-EU tuition is €4,000-18,000/year but scholarships are available. Budget €700-1,200/month for living.

4

Apply for Residence Permit

Non-EU students need a student residence permit. Apply through Enter Finland after admission. Show proof of funds and health insurance.

5

Find Student Housing

Apply to student housing organizations (HOAS, TOAS, etc.) early. They offer the best rates but have waiting lists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I work while studying?

Yes! Students can work, on average up to 30 hours/week. Many students work part-time in service, tech, or their field.

Is education really free?

For EU/EEA students, yes - only a small student union fee. Non-EU students pay tuition (€4,000-18,000/year) but many scholarships cover 50-100% of fees.

Can I stay after graduation?

Yes. You must apply for a residence permit to look for work or start a business (€750 online, €800 on paper; proof of funds €800/month). It can be granted for up to 2 years and used in up to three parts. If you find work, you can switch to a work-based residence permit. Finland actively wants to retain international talent.
